USB Switch
A USB switch is a device that allows one or more USB peripherals to connect to multiple computers. Such a device is often used to share a scanner, printer or external hard drive with two or more computers. In order to allow more peripherals to be connected than there are ports on the switch, a USB hub can be connected to one of the switch ports to allow further connection of devices.
These devices take the input of a USB device such as a printer and allowing the connection to be shared via a USB connection. The USB switches support the same data rates as USB cables with a max transfer speed of 480 Mbit/Sec. Lindy offer a range of 2 and 4 port USB switches supporting the USB 2.0 standard some of which are multi platform compatible supporting not only PCs but also Macs and Sun O/A.
