FireWire Adapter
FireWire adapters are used to connect different FireWire devices together. FireWire, also known as DV, iLink, IEEE1394a and IEEE1394b is an interface which supports speeds of up to 800Mbps. It is available in two configurations: IEEE1394a or FireWire 400, and IEEE1394b or FireWire 800.
FireWire connections can use 4 Pin, 6 Pin or 9 Pin plugs. The 4 Pin and 6 Pin types support FireWire 400 speeds; the 9 pin Beta type supports FireWire 800 speeds. Additionally, 9 Pin Bilingual connections are available which allow FireWire 800 devices to be connected to the FireWire 400 interface.
